I wonder how many other HVAC design professionals have moved from the United States to France? In preparation for my first interview for an internship, I found that the language for HVAC (or CVC in français) various design phases in French is quite abbreviated. For example

  • AVP (Etudes d’avant-projet) : preliminary design study
  • PRO (Etudes de projet) : design studies (just the principal design phase)
  • DCE (Dossier de Consultation des entreprises) : Tender package

New school, spirit. It’s great to meet the new M1 students for the incoming year (at the USMB/Polytech Chambéry Solar Academy where I’m currently enrolled). So much enthusiasm and energy, and diverse in different ways from my own year, which has already been rewarding!

I learned yesterday that there’s a movement in France to call American “Etats-Unians.” It rings a bit better in French.
