Project context

The dedicated chiller pumps for the chillers, which provided chilled water to both the building and the district energy loop at the Miller Learning Center, were no longer capable of meeting the evaporator barrel differential pressure. New pumps were requested to allow the chillers to supply the building and more importantly, the entire central chilled water loop, in the event that the DEP-1 went offline.

My work

I modeled the central chilled water network in PipeFlo. This required months of work with interns, colleagues, and cross-collaboration between departments, such as the Facilities Inventory team, the HVAC shop and other units in O&M to obtain the correct data, drawings and institutional knowledge about how the loop was supposed to work, and worked in reality.
